Allegations of Rigging in Punjab Civic Body Elections; BJP Delegation Meets State Election Commissioner, Demands Re-polling

Date:

Led by Punjab BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon, a delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party met with the Punjab State Election Commissioner on Thursday and submitted a detailed memorandum-cum-complaint letter regarding alleged large-scale irregularities during the ongoing civic body elections in Punjab.

The BJP delegation expressed grave concern over reports emerging from various parts of the state concerning booth capturing, manipulation of voter lists, misuse of government machinery, and other electoral irregularities.

The party urged the State Election Commission to take immediate cognizance of these complaints to ensure the protection of democratic values and the sanctity of the electoral process. The memorandum also demanded the cancellation of voting in the affected areas—where allegations of serious irregularities have surfaced—and called for fresh polling to be conducted there.
Speaking to reporters, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon stated that the party is committed to safeguarding the democratic rights of voters and ensuring that the electoral process remains free from fear, coercion, and the misuse of power.

Accompanying Dhillon in the delegation were State Vice President Dr. Subhash Sharma, State Legal Cell Convener N.K. Verma, State Media Head Vineet Joshi, and senior BJP leader Ranjit Gill.
