Major Breakthrough in Bathinda Petrol Bomb Case: Both Attackers Arrested in Abohar; NIA to Interrogate Them

Date:

Bathinda Police have achieved a major breakthrough in the case involving a petrol bomb attack on the clinic of Dr. Tarsem Garg—a BJP leader, Chief Warden of Civil Defence, and homeopathic physician. According to sources, the police arrested both accused individuals, who carried out the attack, from Abohar late Wednesday evening.

Reports indicate that both accused sustained leg injuries while attempting to flee during the arrest. They were admitted to the Civil Hospital in Bathinda late at night. The police are expected to hold a press conference today to disclose details of the case. Meanwhile, given the gravity of the incident, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also initiated a probe. An NIA team arrived in Bathinda on Wednesday and questioned Dr. Tarsem Garg while investigating the matter for approximately two hours.

According to reports, around 9:40 PM on Monday, two youths arrived on a motorcycle outside Dr. Garg’s clinic on Mela Ram Road, hurled a petrol bomb, and fled the scene. While there were no casualties, the attack damaged some property, including a scooter parked on the premises. Another suspicious bottle was also recovered from the site and is currently being examined.

About two hours after the incident, Dr. Garg’s wife received a threatening call on her mobile phone. The caller identified himself as Shahzad Bhatti, claimed responsibility for the attack, and issued threats. The police were immediately informed, leading to an expansion of the investigation’s scope.

NIA Gathers Technical Evidence
The NIA team questioned Dr. Garg regarding any past enmity, previous threats received, and other potential motives. The team also examined CCTV footage, call details, and other technical and physical evidence.

The police engaged forensic teams, a dog squad, and technical experts to investigate the case. In addition to scrutinizing footage from nearby CCTV cameras, investigators worked on various technical aspects. Through these efforts, the police successfully tracked down the accused and arrested them in Abohar.

Investigation into All Aspects Continues
Police officials state that the investigation is ongoing and no aspect is being overlooked. Interrogation of the accused is expected to yield significant revelations regarding the conspiracy behind the incident, the threatening calls, and any potential network involved.
