The police have claimed to have arrested the prime accused and alleged mastermind behind the incident where a petrol bomb was hurled at a clinic in Bathinda city. According to the police, the arrested individual has been identified as 23-year-old Sandeep Singh, alias Billa, a resident of Khuiyan Sarwar in Fazilka district. A case has been registered against him at the Kotwali police station under various sections of the law, including the Explosive Substances Act.
According to the police, this operation was conducted on Friday by a joint team comprising the CIA staff and the Kotwali police station, under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Jyoti Yadav. The accused was arrested in Bathinda. Police stated that he had been sought since the incident on the night of June 22, when a petrol bomb was thrown at a city clinic. Based on preliminary interrogation, the police claim the accused was in contact with an individual named Shahzad Bhatti, who is based abroad. Police say the two communicated via a foreign phone number. The investigation also reportedly revealed that the accused was lured by the promise of money to carry out the attack.
**Threw the bomb with two accomplices**
According to the police, the accused was given ₹5,000 prior to the incident. He then executed the attack on the clinic alongside two other accomplices. The police are now investigating the broader network and the roles of other individuals involved in the incident.
Officials stated that the accused would be produced in court and taken into police custody for intensive interrogation. The police hope that the remand period will yield crucial information regarding other suspects, the conspiracy behind the attack, and the foreign connections involved.
