A major commotion erupted in Phagwara over the reckless, high-speed driving of a bus. A heated dispute broke out between the passengers and the crew (driver and conductor) of the ‘Narwal Express’ bus, which was traveling from Banga to Phagwara. Passengers accused the driver and conductor of speeding and driving dangerously; they also alleged that the crew members were under the influence of intoxicants. Although the passengers repeatedly pleaded with the crew to stop the bus, their requests were ignored. Passengers claimed they eventually had to jump out and stand in the road to force the bus to halt, narrowly averting a potentially serious accident.
The passengers recorded a video of the incident. They stated that despite repeated requests to stop, the driver instead accelerated. When a passenger questioned the driver about his alleged intoxication, he attempted to snatch the passenger’s phone. The video captures the passengers’ intense anger toward the driver.
