Amidst the ongoing campaign against drugs, the Bathinda administration took major action against an alleged illegal construction. On Monday, a building constructed by Jaspreet Kaur (wife of Inderjit Singh) in the Dhaubiyana Basti area (under the Civil Lines police station jurisdiction) was demolished using a bulldozer. A police force was deployed at the site during the operation.
According to the administration, multiple notices had been issued to the concerned individual regarding the building. These notices directed the occupant to remove the encroachment and vacate the premises, but the site was not vacated. Subsequently, acting on instructions from the competent authority—the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Magistrate—an administrative team accompanied by police personnel arrived at the site and demolished the structure. **19 buildings demolished so far**
The administration stated that alongside the anti-drug campaign, action is also being taken against illegal encroachments and constructions linked to individuals allegedly involved in the drug trade. Bathinda Police has released statistics regarding its actions under the Punjab government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign. According to the police, 3,177 cases have been registered and 4,487 accused individuals arrested since March 1, 2025. This figure includes 113 alleged major drug smugglers.
Police data indicates that assets worth approximately ₹14.89 crore, belonging to 92 accused individuals involved in drug trafficking cases, have been frozen since 2023. The police state that operations against networks involved in the drug trade are continuing. **Appeal for information**
Bathinda Police has appealed to the public to share information regarding the illegal sale or trafficking of drugs. The police have assured that the informant’s identity will be kept confidential.
According to the police, two cases have already been registered against Jaspreet Kaur under various sections. Further action in the matter and an investigation into facts related to the building are underway.
