For the second consecutive day, the SpiceJet flight from Amritsar to Dubai has been delayed by approximately 14 hours. The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 8:40 AM on Wednesday, is now expected to leave at 10:55 PM. Consequently, passengers are forced to wait at the airport for hours. There is growing resentment among the passengers regarding the repeated delays, leading to a chaotic situation at the airport.
Earlier, on Tuesday, the Amritsar-Dubai flight departed at 11:20 PM—a delay of about 14 hours from its scheduled time. Similarly, on Sunday, the same flight had departed with a delay of around 18 hours. Passengers are facing significant inconvenience due to these persistent delays. Allegations of failure to provide timely information: Passengers allege that they are not informed about flight delays in a timely manner. Many arrive at the airport according to the scheduled time, only to learn upon arrival that the flight is delayed by several hours. Passengers point out that people travel to the airport from far-flung areas—not just Amritsar—to catch the Dubai flight. No proper arrangements are made for their accommodation during these long delays, forcing them to wait at the airport for hours.
Passengers relied on ‘Langar’ on Sunday: Due to the approximately 18-hour delay of the Amritsar-Dubai flight on Sunday, passengers had to wait at the airport for an extended period. They passed the time by consuming ‘Langar’ (community kitchen food) at the airport. The continuous delays are fueling growing frustration among the passengers.
