BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon and Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami have strongly condemned the alleged police brutality against a Sikh youth during Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s event in Sheron village, Barnala. They stated that the BJP stands with the victim’s family in this matter and will demand an impartial inquiry.
Meanwhile, SGPC President Advocate Dhami described the incident—in which police allegedly brutalized Gursikh youth Mohanjit Singh Sheron and desecrated his *Kakars* (the five articles of faith)—as extremely unfortunate, condemnable, and a direct violation of religious values. Opposition to Drugs and Corruption: Addressing the drug issue, Dhillon remarked that the situation in Punjab is dire. He alleged that money is being extorted through middlemen under the pretext of curbing the drug menace. Speaking on the issue of government employees, he noted that while employees were showered with praise when this government took office, they are now staging sit-ins to press for their demands. He pointed out that the central government has granted 60% Dearness Allowance (DA), whereas the Punjab government is failing to provide even the basic DA to its employees. Focus on Dalit Vote Bank and ‘Lado Yojana’: Dhillon asserted that the BJP is consistently working for the Dalit community and will form its government in Punjab on the strength of this effort. He dismissed the promise of financial aid made in the name of honoring mothers and daughters as false. He stated that the BJP’s ‘Lado Yojana’ (scheme for girls/women) would be implemented from the very first day of forming the government, alongside driving development in Punjab.
Regarding the legal notices sent by CM Mann’s wife to Sukhpal Khaira and Bikram Majithia, Dhillon remarked that the government has initiated a new culture of issuing notices and filing lawsuits, noting that such cases have occurred in the past as well. Regarding the visit of State In-charge Satish Poonia, he mentioned that Poonia met with party workers over a span of three days and also held organizational meetings. **Desecration of *Kakaars* Will Not Be Tolerated**
Advocate Dhami expressed distress over reports that, alongside the atrocities committed against Mohanjeet Singh, there was also desecration of his *Kakaars* (the five articles of faith) and the mishandling of his cases. He stated that *Kakaars* symbolize a Sikh’s religious identity, code of conduct (*Rehat*), and devotion to the Guru. The deliberate desecration of a Sikh’s *Kakaars* or any disrespectful treatment regarding them can never be tolerated.
He further remarked that questioning the government is the right of every citizen; silencing an individual through police force for raising questions about government policies, functioning, or serious social issues runs counter to the spirit of democracy.
