Former Punjab Chief Secretary and senior IAS officer Anurag Verma arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on Wednesday morning in connection with an investigation into alleged irregularities regarding land-use change approvals and layout modifications in Mohali. He carried files containing important documents related to the case. Senior officials from the central investigative agency are questioning him about the matter.
The date for Anurag Verma’s appearance had previously been postponed twice. The ED had initially summoned him for questioning on August 31; however, he did not appear before the agency on that day, having sought additional time to gather the necessary documents related to the case.
Subsequently, the investigative agency directed him to appear on September 7. Later, the date was rescheduled to September 9 via email, with instructions to appear before the agency at 10 AM on Wednesday. Accordingly, Anurag Verma arrived at the ED office with the requested documents and records. Officials from the central agency then commenced questioning him.
Questioning Regarding Mohali Land Fraud
The investigation focuses on alleged irregularities concerning land-use change approvals and layout modifications in Mohali. The agency is scrutinizing documents and decisions related to the matter.
