The court complex is fully prepared for the Amritsar Bar Association (ABA) elections. In today’s election, over 3,050 voters will decide the fate of 52 candidates.
Ten polling booths have been set up at the ABA office for the voting process. Candidates and their supporters have put their full effort into the campaign. Now, with today’s voting, the results of the candidates’ hard work and their supporters’ active campaigning will be sealed within the ballot boxes.
**Close contest for the post of President**
A fierce contest is expected for the post of President between Gurpreet Singh Panesar and AL Sayali. Meanwhile, a third candidate, PS Walia, is also working to strengthen his vote bank. Consequently, the battle for the presidency promises to be quite interesting.
There is a three-way contest for the post of Vice President among Rajdeep Singh Ghuman, Amritpal Singh Momi, and Puneet Sharma. Rajdeep Ghuman is pushing for a repeat victory, while Amritpal Singh Momi and Puneet Sharma are also striving to strengthen their positions.
A strong clash is expected for the post of Female Vice President between senior lawyers Prakashdeep Kaur and DK Bedi. Apart from them, Sharanpal Kaur Sandhu and Naresh Bala are also in the fray.
There is a tough contest for the post of Secretary between Harsimran Singh and Sanpreet Singh Mann, with Gurmit Mann also challenging both candidates. The contest for the post of Joint Secretary will be between Saurabh Sharma, Akshay Jain, Dheeraj Anand, Rajni Joshi, and Sunil Kumar.
Kapil Sharma and Rakesh Sharma are facing off for the post of Treasurer; Rakesh Sharma has previously served as Treasurer. The contest for the post of Librarian is between Narinder Kaur and Sunaina Soni.
Satinder Cheena, Raman Monga, Anuradha Arora, Geetanjali, Gagan Bhatia, and Harpreet Grover are in the fray for the post of Senior Executive Member. Several candidates, including Amit Arora, Jatinder Bedi, RK Bhardwaj, Akash Genda, Nitish Jain, and Aman Kapoor, are trying their luck for executive posts.
**Voting from 9 AM to 5 PM**
Returning Officer Rajiv Joshi stated that voting will take place today from 9 AM to 5 PM. The police administration has been informed to maintain security and law and order during the election.
More than 250 police personnel will be deployed within the court complex. Sixty ballot boxes have been procured for the voting process. A total of 10 polling booths have been set up at the ABA office, where voters will exercise their franchise.
