‘Easy Registration System’ Fails Again; Property Registration Halted for 3 Hours at Sub-Registrar Offices

Date:

The ‘Easy Registration System’—launched by the Punjab government to simplify and streamline property registration and other related tasks—is increasingly becoming a source of trouble for the public due to frequent technical glitches. On Monday, operations at the Sub-Registrar Jalandhar-1 and Sub-Registrar Jalandhar-2 offices were severely disrupted for nearly three hours after the system’s server suddenly crashed. Due to the server outage, people who had arrived to process documents—such as property deeds, ownership transfers, powers of attorney, and mortgages—were forced to wait for hours. Although many had secured online appointments, their work could not be completed at the scheduled time, leaving them frustrated and compelled to return without getting their tasks done.

According to reports, the system was functioning normally at the Sub-Registrar offices on Monday morning. However, around 1:00 PM, the server suddenly stopped working, bringing all online registration activities to a halt. Although the server was restored around 4:00 PM, the scheduled appointment times for many individuals had already passed. The outage led to overcrowding at the offices. Citizens argued that since the government has implemented an online appointment system, a permanent solution must be found for the recurring technical faults in the server. Addressing the issue, Sub-Registrar-1 Gurpreet Singh explained that the system is managed from the head office. He noted that the technical problem was not limited to the Jalandhar offices but affected tehsils and sub-tehsils across Punjab.

‘Easy Registration’ Has Become a ‘Difficult Registration’ System for the Public: Jagjit Singh Lucky
Jagjit Singh Lucky, Chairman of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Trade Cell, has criticized the Punjab government over the frequent failures of the ‘Easy Registration System’. What was supposed to be ‘easy registration’ has turned into a ‘difficult registration’ system for the public. He noted that a large number of people were inconvenienced on Monday as well, as the server remained down for nearly three hours.
