Gangs involved in online fraud are highly active in the area, frequently targeting unsuspecting individuals. These escalating activities by fraudsters have become a major cause for concern among local residents. Just recently, a case of fraud involving a resident of Talwara—perpetrated under the pretext of a KYC update—came to light. Now, another individual from Sandhwal village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Hajipur police station, has fallen victim to these fraudsters; thousands of rupees were siphoned off from his account, creating an atmosphere of panic across the region.
The victim, Taranjit Singh (son of Baldev Singh, a resident of Sandhwal village), reported that on September 16 around 12:00 PM, an unidentified person hacked his mobile phone and withdrew ₹55,000 from his account. Taranjit Singh has urged senior police officials to identify the hacker as soon as possible, take strict legal action against them, and ensure the recovery of the defrauded money.
