In the city’s main market, a man posing as an FCI inspector swindled ₹21,000 from a priest and a woman by promising to provide gas cylinders at a low price.
The accused took both individuals to the Sector-7 turn under the pretext of delivering the cylinders, then left, claiming he would return shortly with them. He never came back. The City Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation based on the priest’s complaint.
Deepak, a resident of the main market area, stated in his police complaint that he serves as a priest at the Baba Naga Shiv Temple. On September 21, a man visited the temple and identified himself as an FCI inspector. He claimed to have gas cylinders available at a discounted rate. Swayed by his words, Deepak handed over ₹17,000. Similarly, Geeta Rani also gave the accused ₹4,000. According to Deepak, after collecting the money, the accused took them to the Sector-7 turn to deliver the cylinders. He left them there, saying he would go fetch the cylinders.
He did not return despite a long wait. It was then that they realized they had been defrauded. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused and launched a search for him.
Assault after trespassing; case registered against three
Two people were assaulted after intruders entered a home in Lath village, Gohana. A villager lodged a complaint at the Sadar Police Station, accusing three individuals who had arrived in a car. Sonu, a resident of Khanpur Kalan village, told the police that on September 18, around 6 PM, he had visited the home of an acquaintance, Ajay, in Lath village.
At that time, Raunak, Saurabh, and Deepanshu arrived in a car, entered Ajay’s house, and assaulted both of them. Ajay’s family members intervened and rescued them from the attackers. The accused then fled the scene in their vehicle. The police have registered a case against the accused based on the complaint.
