Jamui Jewellery Shop Theft: In a brazen act, unidentified thieves broke the shutter of ‘Jitendra Jewellers’—located at Maniadda Chowk within the Town Police Station area—late Friday night and carried out a major theft. The thieves made off with assets worth approximately ₹13.95 lakh, including gold and silver jewellery from the shop’s safe and showcases, as well as ₹1.95 lakh in cash from the cash box.
This sensational incident has sparked widespread panic and outrage among local business owners. Jitendra Ram, a resident of Dharmpur, has long operated the gold and silver jewellery shop under the name ‘Jitendra Jewellers’ at Maniadda Chowk. He had closed the shop and returned home on Friday night. In a written complaint filed with the police, the shop owner stated that late at night, unidentified thieves took advantage of the deserted area to break open the shop’s sturdy shutter and gain entry. They then proceeded to calmly gather 26 grams of gold jewellery (estimated value ₹3.90 lakh) and approximately three kilograms of silver jewellery (estimated value ₹5.10 lakh).
Thieves also made off with customers’ jewellery and cash from the till
The thieves targeted not only the shopkeeper’s personal stock but also stole gold and silver jewellery worth approximately ₹3 lakh that had been left by customers for orders and repairs. Additionally, they broke the lock on the cash box and took ₹1.95 lakh in cash. According to the shop owner, the total value of the stolen property is approximately ₹13.95 lakh. Around 4:00 AM on Saturday, local villagers noticed the shop’s shutter had been broken and immediately informed Jitendra Ram by phone. Upon receiving the news, Jitendra Ram and his wife, Sarita Devi, rushed to the shop in a state of distress. They were left stunned to find the merchandise scattered, the shutter broken, and the cash box empty.

Immediately after the incident, the victim called the emergency service, Dial 112. Upon receiving the information, the Dial 112 team and the Town Police force arrived at the scene and conducted a thorough inspection. The police have secured CCTV footage from nearby shops and the main road and have begun investigating any suspicious activity.

The Town Police stated that an FIR is being registered against unknown thieves based on the shopkeeper’s complaint. An intensive raid operation has been launched to identify the gang of thieves and arrest them quickly, relying on forensic and technical evidence.
