A meeting was held on Sunday under the banner of the ‘Sanskrit Sanrakshan Manch’ to protest the failure of the UP Education Service Selection Commission to recognize the ‘Acharya’ degree from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University as equivalent to an M.A. in Sanskrit for the purpose of PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) recruitment applications.
The meeting was presided over by former student union president Dr. Akhilendra Tripathi. Speakers noted that the Commission had removed the name of the Sanskrit University from the application portal, sparking resentment among candidates holding degrees from the university. It was decided that a memorandum demanding a resolution to the issue would be submitted to the Selection Commission, the Higher Education Commission, the Governor’s Secretariat, and the Chief Minister through the Vice-Chancellor.
Additionally, a demand was raised for the Commission to validate the ‘Acharya’ degree for application purposes within 48 hours. A warning was issued that a statewide agitation would be launched from the Sanskrit University if the matter was not resolved. Student leaders, including Dr. Ganesh Giri, Dr. Shishir Upadhyay, Dr. Pradeep Pandey, Amit Tiwari, and Sudhir Pandey, were present at the meeting.
