Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the positive sports culture that has emerged in Uttar Pradesh since 2017. He stated that the new sports culture of a ‘New Uttar Pradesh’ is defined by honoring talent and achievements on the field and providing opportunities for athletes to serve the nation. The Chief Minister also contrasted the neglect of athletes prior to 2017 with the new sports policy implemented thereafter.
Appointment letters to be handed to 470 athletes on Thursday
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister stated that, carrying this culture forward, appointment letters will be awarded today to a total of 470 athletes selected under the skilled sports quota for the Uttar Pradesh Police. This includes 43 Sub-Inspectors (Civil Police), 295 Constables (Civil Police), and 132 Constables (PAC). Sports quota was neglected before 2017
The Chief Minister noted that the government service opportunities opening up for athletes today reflect the transformation Uttar Pradesh has witnessed since 2017. Previously, the sports quota was neglected, and recruitment was often driven more by recommendations and connections than by actual talent. ‘Double-engine’ government connects athletes to employment and a secure future
The Chief Minister stated that the ‘double-engine’ government has linked sporting talent with employment and a secure future. As a result, over 534 athletes have already been directly recruited across various departments, while the recruitment process for another 866 athletes in the Uttar Pradesh Police is currently underway. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to all the selected athletes for a bright future.
