In the memory of the forty Muktas of Dasam Patshah Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the fair Maghi has started in Muktsar on Tuesday. On the occasion of Maghi, a large number of devotees reached Gurudwara Shri Darbar Sahib and earned merit by bathing in the holy lake.

They also made their lives successful by visiting other Gurudwara Sahibs. Devotees started entering the city from around 12 o’clock on the night of Lohri and the process of bathing by reaching Gurudwara Sahib started from Monday night itself, which continued throughout the day on Tuesday.

Throughout the day, lakhs of devotees reached and after bathing, paid their respects in the Gurughar. They also bowed down to the forty Muktas and listened to the Guru’s glory.

An exhibition depicting Sikh history has also been set up.

Last Sunday, Sri Akhand Path Sahib was published in Gurudwara Shahid Ganj Sahib. Its bhog was offered today on Maghi at 7:30 in the morning.

Apart from Gurdwara Shri Darbar Sahib, the devotees visited other Guru Ghar including Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib, Gurdwara Tumbu Sahib, Gurdwara Rakabsar Sahib, Gurdwara Datansar Sahib, Gurdwara Tarn Taran Sahib and had darshan of Guru Sahiban.

An exhibition depicting Sikh history was also put up in the Parikrama of Gurdwara Shri Darbar Sahib. Various types of langars were also served at various places in the city throughout the day.

Amrit will be served to interested devotees

Traditionally, the Maghi fair runs for two days on 14th and 15th January, but due to the entertainment fair on Malot Road, the Maghi fair remains lively in Muktsar for about two months. Gurdwara Shri Darbar Sahib manager Baldev Singh said that on 15th January, a special Dhadi ceremony will be held in Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib.

While in Gurdwara Tumbu Sahib, Amrit will be served to interested devotees at 11 o’clock. Mela Maghi will be concluded traditionally with the Nagar Kirtan.

This Nagar Kirtan will start from the gate number four of Gurudwara Shri Darbar Sahib and will pass through various markets of the city and reach Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib. From where it will conclude by returning to Gurudwara Shri Darbar Sahib.

Nihang Singhs will display their bravery by taking out a procession. On one hand, Nagar Kirtan will be organized by the Gurudwara Sahib Managing Committee on January 15. On the other hand, Nihang Singhs from various states will take out a procession and display their bravery and jahoo-jalal.

During this time, Nihang Singhs riding on elephants and horses will remain the center of attraction. At the same time, Nihang Singhs taking out a procession with weapons, guns and arms also attract people’s attention.
