The hearing of the case registered against sacked DSP Gursher Singh Sandhu in the State Crime Police Station was held in the Mohali District Court on Wednesday.
Gursher Singh Sandhu, through his lawyer Matwinder Singh, had filed his anticipatory bail plea in the court of Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Baljinder Singh Sra, on which the court, while giving its verdict today, has rejected Sandhu’s bail plea.
What did Sandhu’s lawyer argue?
Sandhu’s lawyer argued in the court that a wrong FIR has been registered against Sandhu. Seven officers were also found guilty along with him but a case has been registered against him alone while the rest of the officers have been suspended.
After hearing the argument, the court said that the matter is very serious and the police need his custody for further interrogation. In such a situation, it is not right to grant him bail. The court has rejected his bail plea.
Gursher Singh is absconding since the case was registered
Let us tell you that Gursher Singh Sandhu is absconding since the case was registered. Reliable sources have revealed that Gursher Sandhu is living safely at the official residence of an IPS officer. He has also worked under the same officer and was also considered his favorite.
The dismissed DSP had filed his anticipatory bail plea mainly on the ground that the FIR lodged against him at the State Crime Police Station in Mohali was false. The complaint of Baljinder Singh alias Tahla was investigated by the then SSP of Mohali Sandeep Garg, who found the complaint to be false.
7 police officers were found guilty
However, the FIR was registered on the basis of an investigation conducted by the SP of Ropar, who is junior to SSP Garg. The second argument in the petition was that he has been made a scapegoat in the controversy over Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview.
A total of seven police officers were found guilty in the investigation conducted by Special DGP Prabodh Kumar. All of them were suspended, but only dismissed without giving them a chance to be heard.
Also accused of having assets disproportionate to income
Earlier, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had rejected his petition seeking quashing of the FIR against him. It is being told that the Vigilance Bureau (VB) is in the process of registering another FIR against him on charges of having assets disproportionate to his income.
The Vigilance Bureau has been told that Gursher is a partner in a famous real estate project in Kharar through his mother, the investigation of which has been started by the Vigilance.
