BJP released its fourth list for Delhi assembly elections on Thursday. 9 candidates have been announced in this list. BJP has declared candidates for 68 seats in its total four lists, while 2 seats have been left for allies.
BJP has given ticket to Shikha Rai against AAP candidate and minister Saurabh Bhardwaj from Greater Kailash. While Anil Vashisht has been fielded against AAP’s Delhi president and candidate from Babarpur Gopal Rai.
January 12: One name in the list, Mohan Bisht fielded from Mustafabad
BJP’s third list had only one name. The party had announced Mohan Bisht’s name from Mustafabad. Actually, a day before, BJP had released the second list. In this, the ticket of five-time MLA Mohan Bisht from Karawal Nagar was cut and Kapil Mishra’s ticket was announced.
Expressing displeasure over this, Bisht had indicated on January 12 that he could contest the election as an independent from the same seat. After this, in the evening, BJP released a third list of one name and declared him as the candidate from Mustafabad.
January 11: One MLA’s ticket cut, another repeated
BJP had announced candidates for 29 seats in the second list. MLA Abhay Verma’s ticket from Laxmi Nagar was repeated. Former CM Madanlal Khurana’s son Harish Khurana was given a ticket from Moti Nagar.
The party had changed its previous candidates on 26 seats in this list. There were only 2 candidates who got tickets even after losing the 2020 elections. These include Tilakram Gupta from Tri Nagar and Pradyuman Rajput from Dwarka.
9 councilors were fielded in the second list. This also includes AAP councilor Priyanka Gautam, who joined BJP last month. She is currently a councilor from Kaundli ward. Former Mayor Shyam Sharma has been fielded from Hari Nagar. Last time Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga contested from this seat.
Nominated councillor Rohtas Bidhuri got the ticket in place of Vikram Bidhuri, who lost to BJP twice from Tughlakabad seat. Vikram is the brother of BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri from Kalkaji seat.
January 4: Parvesh Verma gets ticket against Kejriwal
BJP’s first list also had 29 names. In this, Parvesh Verma’s ticket was announced against Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi seat. While Ramesh Bidhuri was given ticket against CM Atishi from Kalkaji. Congress has given ticket to Alka Lamba on this seat.
In the first list, the party had given tickets again to most of the candidates who got tickets in the last assembly elections. In the list of 29 candidates, 13 candidates have been repeated, while new candidates were fielded on 16 seats.
At the same time, the ticket of current MLA Anil Bajpai from Gandhinagar was cut. In his place, former state president Arvinder Singh Lovely, who came to BJP from Congress, has been given ticket.
BJP’s first list also includes tickets to 7 leaders who left AAP
BJP released its first list of candidates on January 4. There were 29 names in the list. Among these, 7 leaders left AAP and Congress and joined BJP. In the first list, the party again gave tickets to most of the candidates who got tickets in the last assembly elections. The party repeated 13 candidates, while the tickets of 16 were changed.
Congress announced candidates on all seats
Congress also released the sixth list of 2 candidates on Thursday. In this, Lokendra Chaudhary from Timarpur and Sureshwati Chauhan from Rohtas Nagar have been given tickets. With this, Congress has announced the names of candidates on all 70 seats.
Earlier on Wednesday late night, Congress released the fifth list of 5 candidates. In which there were names of 2 SC candidates. Surendra Kumar has been made the candidate from Bawana seat. Sumesh Gupta has been given ticket from Rohini seat. The party has fielded Rahul Dhanak from Karol Bagh. Apart from this, Virendra Bidhuri from Tughlakabad and Arjun Bhadana from Badarpur have been fielded.
AAP has announced candidates on all 70 seats
AAP has announced the names of 70 candidates in a total of 5 lists between 21 November and 20 December i.e. in 30 days. In the fifth list released on 20 December, the name of the candidate from Mehrauli seat was changed. Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj will contest from Greater Kailash, Satyendra Jain from Shakur Basti.
This time the tickets of 26 current MLAs have been cut. The seats of 4 MLAs have been changed. Among these, Manish Sisodia’s seat has been changed from Patparganj to Jangpura, Rakhi Bidlan’s seat from Mangolpuri to Madipur, Praveen Kumar’s seat from Jangpura to Janakpuri and Durgesh Pathak’s seat from Karawal Nagar to Rajendra Nagar.
Former CM to face sons of two former CMs
BJP has fielded Pravesh Verma from New Delhi seat against former CM Arvind Kejriwal and Congress has fielded Sandeep Dixit. In this way, former CM Kejriwal will face sons of two former CMs. Pravesh Verma is the son of former CM Sahib Singh Verma and Sandeep Dixit is the son of former CM Sheila Dixit.
Voting in Delhi on February 5, results on February 8
Election Commission announced Delhi Assembly elections on January 7. Voting will be held on all 70 seats of Delhi in a single phase on February 5. Results will be declared on February 8. It will take about 35 days from the day of announcement of dates to the completion of the election process i.e. till February 10.
In the one and a half hour press conference, CEC Rajiv Kumar spoke on Delhi elections for only 10 minutes. For more than an hour, he responded to the opposition’s allegations like EVM, irregularities in voter list and removal of names of voters of a particular category.
In view of the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the election campaign from January 3. While addressing the public in Ashok Vihar, the PM called the AAP government a disaster government. He said – Delhiites have to remove this disaster government from power.
Arvind Kejriwal accused BJP and Congress of misleading the people of Delhi in a press conference on January 4. He said – Congress and BJP should formally announce that they are contesting elections together in Delhi. We will forgive the wrong water bills in Delhi.
