Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Harjinder Singh Dhami had written a letter to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann demanding a ban on the release of MP Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ on Friday. He had said that if the said film is released on Friday, the atmosphere of Punjab may deteriorate.

At the same time, today i.e. on Friday morning, SGPC officials and employees reached outside PVR Suraj Chanda Tara near the bus stand to stop the screening of the film Emergency. A protest has started in front of PVR Cinema located at the bus stand under the leadership of SGPC against the film Emergency.

‘The film may spoil the atmosphere of Punjab’

Thousands of employees and representatives of Sikh organizations have staged a sit-in here under the leadership of SGPC secretary Pratap Singh. At present, the owners of PVR Cinema have decided not to release the film today in view of the protest. Pratap Singh has reiterated that if the film is not banned and the atmosphere of the state deteriorates, then all the responsibility will be of the Punjab government.

At the same time, ACP Gagandeep Singh has said that no one will be allowed to enter the theater. SGPC and organizations have been allowed to protest peacefully. A large number of police forces have been deployed here. The ACP said that the theater owner has assured that the film will not be screened.

‘Emergency will not allow release in any mall’

At the same time, Pratap Singh has said that the film will not be allowed to release in any mall. Employees and officers have also been sent to other theaters so that the release of the film can be stopped.

PVR Cinema Manager Lalit Singh has assured SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh that the film will not be released in any theater of PVR. He said that the management had taken this decision last evening itself.

Letter written to CM to ban Emergency

SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami had said that objection has already been raised by sending a letter to CM Mann through the Chief Secretary of Punjab in the resolution passed by the SGPC Executive on November 14 to ban the film. On the other hand, on the instructions of Dhami, a delegation of SGPC led by SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh also submitted a memorandum to DC Sakshi Sahni. The DC was demanded to issue an order to ban the film. Former head of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar strongly opposed the film ‘Emergency’ and said that it is going to be shown in cinemas across Punjab on January 17, which should be strictly stopped.
