A rape case has been registered against Congress MP Rakesh Rathore in Sitapur. A woman leader alleges that the MP promised to marry her. He kept sexually exploiting her for 4 years. On the complaint of the woman, the city Kotwali police has registered a case of rape and death threats against the MP.

According to the victim associated with Tailik Mahasabha, MP Rakesh Rathore also promised her a career in politics. SP Chakresh Mishra said that the woman has handed over several electronic evidence including call recordings to the police. The woman had given a complaint letter to the police on January 15.

FIR after completing investigation in 2 days

The SP said that the victim’s allegations were investigated for 2 days. After getting medical done, a case was registered against the accused MP on Friday under various sections including rape. The victim’s statement has been recorded in front of the magistrate. The victim narrated her ordeal in front of the magistrate. Which has also been confirmed in the medical report.

Victim provided security

SP Chakresh Mishra said, the victim has expressed apprehension of danger to life and property. Keeping this in mind, he has been provided a gunner under security. Security has also been provided at the residence. Further action is being taken in the matter by the police.

MP has a long association with controversies

Rakesh Rathore was elected from Sitapur as a BJP candidate in the 2017 elections. In May 2021, several audio clips of his private conversations were leaked. In which he was strongly criticizing the government. Especially on the response to the Corona epidemic. He was also complaining about casteist tendencies within the party.
