Election for the post of chief on March 1

According to the information received from SAD, the membership campaign will be run from February 20 to March 25. The target is to make 25 lakh members. For this, in-charges have been assigned duty for all the constituencies. The election of the new chief will be held on March 1, as this seat has fallen vacant after the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Sukhbir Badal was sentenced to religious punishment by Akal Takht a few days ago. There were mainly 3 charges against him. The first charge was of forgiving Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim in the sacrilege case. Apart from this, he was accused of not being able to stop the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and not taking action against the accused even while being in the government. Sukhbir Badal had resigned from the post of chief even before this punishment.
