In view of the Republic Day celebrations in Chandigarh, the police has diverted some routes. Due to which many routes will remain closed from 6:30 am till the end of the celebrations. Apart from this, buses going to ISBT-17 will go via Himalaya Marg from Kisan Bhawan Chowk and Piccadilly Chowk. While leaving (from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm), only buses will run on this route.
These routes have been closed
– Sector 16/17/22/23 roundabout to Gurdayal Singh Petrol Pump: The route going to Gurdayal Singh Petrol Pump located in Sector 22-A on Udyog Path will remain closed.
– Old District Court to Shivalik Hotel: The route from Old District Court located in Sector 17 to Shivalik Hotel will remain closed.
– Lions Restaurant Light Point to Parade Ground: The route going from Lions Restaurant Light Point located in Sector 17 to Parade Ground will remain closed.
– Sector 22/23 Light Point to Sector 16/17/22/23 Roundabout: The road from Sector 22/23 Light Point to Sector 16/17/22/23 Roundabout will remain closed.
– Sector 16/23 Chota Chowk to Sector 16/17/22/23 Roundabout: The road from Sector 16/23 Chota Chowk to Sector 16/17/22/23 Roundabout will remain closed.
There is no major impact on traffic
This kind of arrangement does not have any special impact on the general public. Only the local residents living in Sector 17 and 22 and the people coming and going through this route have to take a slightly longer route. That too for about 3 to 4 hours. But some people definitely get annoyed with the tight security, checking of people and checkpoints at various places. That too is an important part of their security arrangements.
