The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has found the allegations of sexual harassment against the SP of Jind district of Haryana to be baseless. The SIT formed under the leadership of ADGP (Crime Branch) Mamta Singh talked to 118 women police personnel but no one accused the SP of sexual harassment. This investigation was started after a letter went viral on social media on October 25.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor has found the allegations of sexual harassment against the SP of Jind to be baseless.
The investigation team led by ADGP (Crime Branch) Mamta Singh talked to 168 women police personnel posted in Jind district, out of which statements of 118 have been recorded.
No woman police employee has denied any kind of sexual misconduct against her and completely rejected the allegations in which it was being said that the SP of Jind, the woman DSP of Jind and the SHO of the woman police used to exploit and harass the women employees together.
On October 25, a letter went viral on social media
IPS Aastha Modi and Sangeeta Kalia completed the investigation in the special investigation team led by ADGP Mamta Singh. This investigation team has submitted its detailed report to Director General of Police Shatrujit Kapoor.
On October 25, 2024, a letter went viral on social media, in which Jind SP, DSP and Mahila SHO were accused of sexually harassing women police personnel.
After these allegations, the investigation was handed over to IPS Aastha Modi, in which she termed these allegations as false and recommended an inquiry from higher authorities.
CM gave orders to form a high level committee
When this matter came to the notice of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and Director General of Police Shatrujit Kapoor, they ordered the formation of a high level committee.
The SP of Jind had also urged the government to conduct a high-level inquiry into the allegations against him, after which the SIT was formed.
The SIT investigated five major points and found that no police personnel with the names Rani, Suman, Geeta, Suman Rani, Preeti, Reena and Sonia, in whose name complaints were made, are posted in Jind. Allegations in the name of a widow police personnel named Rani had surfaced on the internet media, but they too turned out to be false.
The SIT said in the report submitted to the DGP that some women police personnel gave statements in writing, while some did not reveal their names, but not a single woman police personnel came forward who complained against the Jind SP of sexual harassment, spoiling ACR or any other kind of harassment.
Allegations of sexual harassment not confirmed
The SIT found that none of the women police personnel who had received show cause notices or letters to participate in departmental investigations in various allegations confirmed the allegations of sexual harassment.
Haryana State Women Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia had taken cognizance of the entire matter and summoned Jind SP and the SP had then claimed that he was ready for any investigation.
The SIT led by ADGP also checked the service records of women police personnel posted in Jind district during the tenure of the accused SP in its investigation, in which no allegation has been proved.
