Six bulls and one cow died due to electric shock at Maloya Gaushala in Chandigarh at around 6.30 am on Saturday. This accident happened due to a cut in the electric wire. Police have started investigating the matter. The Gaushala administration has also said that an investigation will be conducted. The bodies of the dead cow and bull are being sent for post-mortem.
Six bulls and one cow died due to electric shock at Maloya Gaushala at around 6.30 am on Saturday. As soon as the information was received, the police and administration team reached the spot. Police have started investigating the matter. Like every day, the cows and bulls were left under a tin shed.
An electric wire was passing over the tin shed, which had a cut. Due to this cut, the entire tin shed and its pillars got electrified. Due to this, six bulls and one cow got electrocuted.
When the Gaushala administration came to know about this, the police and administration were immediately informed about it. People from nearby areas also reached the Gaushala in large numbers.
Police questioned the Gaushala administration
As soon as the information about the accident was received, Maloya police station in-charge and DSP South Anurag Daru reached the spot. They took stock of the spot. At the same time, police officials also questioned the Gaushala administration about the incident.
The Gaushala administration has also said that the matter will be investigated. Doctors, Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Bunty, Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta, Area Councilor Nirmala Devi reached the spot.
Bodies being sent for postmortem
The bodies of the dead cow and Nandi are being sent for postmortem. It is being told that the meter of the Gaushala had broken down some time ago. After that, the meter was bypassed and a direct wire was connected above the shed.
The Electricity Department had said that the application process for the new meter will take time, so the average bill will keep coming till then. The wire was connected directly.
There were 30 to 35 cattle in the shed
There were 30 to 35 cattle at that time in the shed where the current came. Thankfully, the rest of the lives were saved. Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar is also reaching the spot.
