Farmers on the Shambhu and Khanauri border of Punjab and Haryana are busy with a full strategy to make the Mahapanchayats to be held from February 11 to February 13 a success.
At the same time, the issue of imposing Section 307 on farmers in the case of lapse in security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Punjab three years ago has heated up. Farmers have prepared to surround the Ferozepur SSP office on February 11.
The hunger strike of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has entered the 70th day today (Monday). His ear pain has now been cured. On the other hand, efforts are also on for the unity of the United Kisan Morcha and both the fronts. It is expected that a meeting will be held between the two sides soon.
Farmers did not go near the PM
Farmers are protesting against the imposition of Section 307 on farmers in the security lapse case during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab on January 5, 2022, just before the Assembly 2022 elections in Punjab. The revolutionary union involved in the United Kisan Morcha, a non-political Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, announced a struggle in this matter.
The union leaders have said in a meeting in Bathinda that a false case has been registered against the farmers. No farmer had gone near the Prime Minister. There was no dispute of any kind. Only BJP workers had gone to him. The Punjab government imposed wrong sections on the farmers. The government should pass this case, otherwise on February 11, the farmers will protest with full force outside the Ferozepur district administration.
SKM prepared the strategy of struggle
On the other hand, the United Kisan Morcha and Shambhu and Khanauri Morcha have not united. Efforts are going on from both sides. At the same time, an important meeting of SKM was held in Mohali on Sunday. It has been decided in this meeting that on February 9, demand letters will be submitted to the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs across the country against the draft of the agricultural marketing policy issued by the Central Government. Along with this, a demand will be made to cancel the draft.
Farmers say that the Punjab government has not yet called the assembly to cancel the draft. In such a situation, a strategy of struggle will be prepared by holding a meeting in Chandigarh on February 15. On March 5, demonstrations will be held against the agricultural marketing policy in the capitals of all the states.
Punjab government has taken action against 7 officers including SP
After the formation of AAP government in Punjab in place of Congress, action has been taken against 7 police officers. Among them, SP Gurbinder Singh, who was posted in Bathinda, was first suspended. Gurbinder was the SP of Ferozepur at the time of the incident.
His duty was that of the head of the police team kept in reserve for emergency at the time of the incident. Apart from this, the suspended officers included DSP Prason Singh and Jagdish Kumar, Inspector Jatinder Singh and Balwinder Singh, SI Jaswant Singh and ASI Ramesh Kumar. All of them were posted in Ferozepur during PM Modi’s visit on January 5, 2022.
