Meetings have been held in this regard and the new head can be announced by the end of the month. After the defeat in the Lok Sabha and Assembly by-elections, the party is eyeing the 2027 assembly elections. The party is preparing to expand its foothold in Punjab through the assembly elections.
According to sources, in the meeting regarding political matters of the party, it has also been agreed that keeping in mind the urban and Hindu vote bank, the command should be given to the old Hindu face for the state head. At present, Sunil Jakhar is the head of Punjab BJP. After the defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Jakhar submitted his resignation to the high command. After this, he also distanced himself from the activities of the party. This is the reason why the party started looking for a new chief.

According to the information, other party leaders including General Secretary Tarun Chugh, former MP Avinash Rai Khanna, former chief Ashwani Sharma and vice-president Subhash Sharma are in the race for the post of chief. The party is engaged in bringing back its old leaders and workers at the grassroots level, so that a good performance can be done in the 2027 assembly elections. In such a situation, preparations are being made to hand over the reins of the party to a face who has a good hold among the local leaders and workers.
