‘Handcuffing and shackling is inhuman’
Jaspal Singh, one of the deported people on Wednesday, claimed that he was handcuffed and his legs were chained during the entire journey and he was deboarded only after landing at Amritsar airport.
Senior Congress leader and Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari has expressed his displeasure over this. He also said that handcuffing and shackling people, not allowing them to use the toilet for 40 hours is absolutely inhuman.
Questions were also raised to the central government
He questioned that what is the crime in this? They went to America in search of a better life. It is true that they did it illegally i.e. through the donkey route but this does not make them criminals that their hands and legs should be tied and they should be treated worse than animals.
Questioning the central government on this issue, Manish Tiwari said that what is the meaning of all those summits with Donald Trump if Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dr. S Jaishankar cannot ensure that the people of our country will not be treated disrespectfully?
