The painful story of people going to America through the Donkey Route
Let us tell you that out of the 104 people deported from America and reached India, four youths are from Patiala. The story of these youths reaching America is heart-wrenching. They lost everything in the lure of foreign countries. To go to America, some sold their land and some took loans worth lakhs. When they started their journey five months ago, they had happiness on their faces but faced a mountain of troubles on the way.
For two months, they had to spend nights in the jungles. Somehow they reached America, but as soon as they crossed the border, they were caught by the police. They were not even able to tell the people in the village about their reaching America when they were deported. 22-year-old Amrit Singh, a resident of Aehru Khurd village in Patiala, went to America about five months ago.
Amrit Singh had left home five months ago
The elder sister is settled in Canada after marriage. Amrit Singh also wanted to go to America and settle there. With this desire, he reached America in five months through the Donkey Route. The father is a landlord. He has about seven acres of land.
The village sarpanch Raghubir Singh said that his son Amrit Singh had insisted on going to America, due to which the father sold the land and sent him to America. He had gone and returned once, but this time he had left home five months ago, but this time the American police caught him.
