After 27 years, BJP has got majority in the assembly elections in Delhi. 8 leaders from Haryana were contesting elections in Delhi. Out of these, 5 lost, while only 3 were successful in winning the elections. Both BJP candidates Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Pawan Sharma won. Congress candidate Arjun Bhadana could not even save his deposit.
The maximum number of 5 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party were from Haryana background, but only one leader was able to win the election. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a resident of Hisar, also lost the election. Virendra Singh, a resident of Jhajjar, has won the election from Delhi Cantonment assembly seat.
1. Manjinder of Sirsa and Pawan of Jind won the election
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a resident of Sirsa, has won from Rajouri Garden seat on BJP ticket. He got 64,132 votes. Here Aam Aadmi Party candidate Dhanwati Chandela stood second. She got 45,942 votes.
Similarly, Pawan Sharma, a resident of Narwana in Jind, won from Uttam Nagar assembly seat on a BJP ticket. He got 1,03,613 votes. Here Aam Aadmi Party candidate Posh Baliyan came second.
2. Kejriwal is a resident of Hisar, was the Chief Ministerial face
Former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal is a resident of Siwani village in Hisar. He has studied in Hisar till graduation. Kejriwal’s maternal uncle also lives in Hisar. Kejriwal contested from New Delhi seat. Here BJP candidate Pravesh Sahib Sharma defeated him. Pravesh got 30,088 votes, while Kejriwal got 25,999 votes.
3. Virendra Kadian, a resident of Jhajjar, won
Virendra Singh Kadian, a resident of Dubaldhan village in Jhajjar, has won. He contested from Delhi Cantonment assembly seat on AAP ticket and got 22,191 votes. On this seat, BJP candidate Bhuvan Tanwar stood second with 20,162 votes.
4. AAP’s Rakhi, Deepak and Mahendra also lost
Mahindra Goyal, a resident of Kaithal, was made the candidate by AAP from Rithala assembly seat. He stood second with 74,755 votes. Here BJP’s Kulwant Rana won. Similarly, Rakhi Birla, a resident of Chhara village of Jhajjar, was given a ticket by AAP from Madipur seat, but she also lost. She got 41,120 votes. Here BJP candidate Kailash Gangwal won.
Deepak Singla, a resident of Uklana, Hisar, was made the candidate by AAP from Vishwas Nagar. He stood second with 47,09, votes.
5. Former Faridabad MP Bhadana’s son’s bail forfeited
Arjun Bhadana, son of former Congress MP Avtar Singh Bhadana from Faridabad Lok Sabha seat of Haryana, was given a ticket by Congress from Badarpur assembly seat of Delhi. But, Arjun’s deposit was forfeited in the election. He stood third with 3,145 votes. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Ram Singh has won this seat. Arjun Bhadana’s cousin Manmohan Bhadana is a BJP MLA from Samalkha seat of Haryana.
The party lost all the seats in Delhi where CM Bhagwant Mann of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab campaigned. CM Bhagwant Mann had campaigned on 12 seats here. These included the seats of party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and former deputy CM Manish Sisodia. However, both of them also lost the election.
