On the complaint of youth who returned from America, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has cracked down on eight illegal travel agents. SIT Chief NRI Affairs ADGP Praveen Sinha said that the police have registered FIRs against 8 illegal travel agents.
Of these, two FIRs have been registered with the district police and six FIRs with the NRI Affairs wing of Punjab Police. ADGP Praveen Sinha said that tightening the noose on fraudulent immigration consultants exploiting the naive people of the state, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Punjab Police has started strict action to eliminate the multinational human trafficking network active in the region.
This action is related to those Indian citizens who were deported from the United States and reached Amritsar. Punjab Police has recorded statements against those travel agents who have cheated them by making false promises of illegal entry into America. Punjab Police has appealed to the public to be vigilant and report illegal immigration or any other such fraud to the authorities.
