There is a good news for movie watchers. Now flexi rates will be applicable on movie tickets in the state. Under this, as the booking of cinema halls increases, its rates will also increase. People who book first will get the benefit of this. These people will get cheaper tickets. Flexi policy is applicable on movie tickets in most of the states of the country, whereas it is not so in Chandigarh.
Now in Chandigarh also, like airlines and Shatabdi, flexi rates will be applicable for movie tickets in cinema halls. Under this, as the booking of a movie in a cinema hall increases, its rate will also increase and the one who makes the booking first will get a chance to buy a cheaper ticket.
The estate department has sent a proposal to the administration to amend the policy. After getting approval, cinema operators will be able to decide the rate of the movie according to its importance.
Cinema operators will benefit
The movie which has less demand will have lower rates. Along with this, the new movie which will come, its rates will be higher at that time, but as the days of its release increase, the rates of its tickets will also decrease.
According to the administration, cinema operators will get the right to increase or decrease the rates and they will be able to fix the rates according to the demand.
While according to the current rules, the operators running the cinema have the right to increase or decrease the rates only twice a year, for this also they have to take approval from the administration. Whereas after getting approval on the new proposal, the operators will be able to increase or decrease the rates anytime.
According to the administration, apart from Punjab and Haryana, flexi policy is applicable on movie tickets in most of the states of the country, whereas this is not the case in Chandigarh.
18 percent GST is received on ticket rates
According to the administration, with the implementation of the new system, the administration as well as the audience will benefit from the revenue. The administration gets 18 percent GST on the rate of every ticket. Whereas at present the rates in the cinema halls of Mohali and Panchkula keep on increasing or decreasing according to the demand of the film.
Recently Pushpa-2 movie was released in all the cinema halls of Tricity, in the initial days all the cinema halls were completely full. For amendment in the rate policy, the estate department is also studying the rates being applied in Panchkula and Mohali.
Most of the cinema halls in the city remain full on weekends. But the ticket rates remain the same every day of the week. After getting approval from the administration, now the cinema operators will be able to reduce the rates on normal days. Whereas they will be able to increase the rates on weekends.
At present, the same rate is applicable every day
According to the administration, till now the same rate is applicable every day. In which there is no difference in the rate of the film between weekends and normal days. Recently, the cinema operators also had a meeting with the officials of the administration in this regard, but the officials, citing the rule, informed them to do this only twice a year.
When the managers of the cinema hall put forward their point in the meeting, the estate department also gave its consent on the right to increase or decrease the rates and talked about preparing a proposal. According to the administration, at present the rate of every type of film is the same, but after the proposal is approved, the rates will be applicable according to the film.
It is known that in the year 2019, tickets above Rs 100 were included in the 18 percent GST, reduced from 28 percent tax slab.
