On the complaint of a youth from Mohali deported from America, the police have registered a case against two travel agents of Ambala, Haryana. The accused have been identified as Gurjinder Antal and Mukul, residents of Ambala Cantt. Both the agents had sent the youth to America after taking Rs 45 lakh from him. The victim alleges that when he was stuck on the way for four months, they talked about sending him back to India.
On this, the agents sent an audio message saying that now he will have to go, there is no question of turning back. The accused had taken all the money before reaching America. He has submitted all the evidence related to this to the police. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 143, 316 (2), 318 (4) of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure and the Immigration Act.
Taranveer Singh had given a complaint to the police in this regard. The police is now conducting raids to arrest the accused in this case.
Taranvir Singh’s complaint mainly mentions four points –
1. Met agents through friend
Taranvir has told in his complaint to the police that both the accused Gurjinder Antal and Mukul are business partners. He met the accused through his friend Gursharan Singh resident Boothgarh. Accused Gurjinder is a distant relative of my friend. On July 10, 2024, he gave his passport to both the accused. Gurjinder Singh had told him that he would send him to USA by flight. Not only this, he would also arrange work for him there. He has good links there. For this he will have to pay Rs 45 lakh.
2. Stuck in the jungles of Mexico for four months
After this a deal was done with them. When he reached Colombia, his family members gave Rs 18 lakh to the accused. After this, when he reached Mexico, the accused came to his house and took the remaining amount from his father. During the journey, he and his companions had to stay in Colombia for four months. About which they had not told anything earlier. When he got stuck there, he said that he does not want to go to America by illegal means. Call him back to his country India. On this Gurjinder sent an audio message and said that now we cannot call you back, you will have to go there.
3. We were ready to pay the money till Colombia
The victim told that he told all this to his family members. Then his father called Mukul to his village. He told him to call our son back to India. We do not want to send our son to America illegally. On this Mukul’s answer was that now he will have to go further. We cannot call him back at any cost. While he told them that he can keep the money that was spent to reach there. But the accused did not listen to him.
4. After telling the family members, the robbers used to torture him
Taranveer told that he had to face a lot of difficulties in this journey. He crossed the border of America by illegal means. Before this, they were tortured a lot on the way. They had to spend many days without food and water. When we told our family about what was happening to us, the donkeys used to beat us on the instructions of their travel agent. They used to threaten us with death. They did not tell us at all that they would have to walk on the way or travel through a small boat. We were shown dreams of sending us through flight and cruise.
So far 11 cases have been registered
A special investigation team has been formed by the Punjab government to investigate the cases of people deported from America. Apart from this, 11 FIRs have been registered by the police so far. At the same time, the government has made it clear that every possible help will be provided to the victims from their side. They will be provided loans and other things to start their life afresh.
