Thieves broke into Nagar Kheda temple in Palsora, Chandigarh and stole money from the donation box kept there. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed in the temple, in which the thief is clearly visible.
It can be seen in the video that the thief first enters the temple, then takes out money from the donation box and runs away. But he did not know that his entire action was being recorded in the CCTV. Thana-39 police has started investigation in the case on the basis of CCTV footage.
The accused kept roaming around before the theft
Police investigation revealed that the accused kept roaming outside and around the temple for a long time, so that after committing the crime, he would not come in anyone’s sight and could easily run away.
Police failed to curb crime
Local councilor Munawar raised questions on the working of the police and said that theft and drug business is increasing in Sector 55/56 and surrounding areas, but the police is proving unsuccessful in stopping it. He said that the police should increase patrolling in the area.
