The Punjab government has now prepared to improve the working of the food supply department. The department has taken a big decision to make a direct approach to the people and to settle the complaints immediately. Now, officers from the food inspector to the DFSO level will sit in the offices till 12 noon.
Deputy director level officers will go to the depot and check the process of distributing ration. They will also share the live location of going to the field. This entire process will start by February 28. This decision has been taken in the meeting of officers chaired by the department’s minister Lal Chand Kataruchak.
Three important decisions taken in the food supply department –
1. Officers will sit in the district headquarters
District category officers of the food supply department, Inspector, FSO and DFSO will sit in the district level offices till 12 noon. The department’s effort behind sitting there is that the complaints of the people can be settled immediately. After this they will go to the field. They will have to ensure this by February 25. After this it will also be checked.
2. Deputy Director will visit depots and meet people
The Deputy Director of the department will have to visit the depots at the time of distributing ration in the area under his jurisdiction. As many depots as possible will be covered. The effort behind this is that firstly, it will increase the trust of the people towards the department. They will have a good feeling. They will be monitored. Secondly, the officers will also get a chance to know the questions of the people. At the same time, those who cannot go to the district level offices will also be able to send their feedback to the department.
3. Weight machines will be connected to EPOS
At many places, complaints come at the depots that they are given less ration. This thing will be completely eliminated. The department has already given orders to connect all electronic weight machines to e-point of sale (EPOS). If this thing is not there anywhere, then it will be completed by February 28 at any cost.
There are more than 14 thousand depots
At present, there are more than 16 thousand government depots in Punjab. At the same time, the government is preparing to open more than nine thousand depots. All the procedures for this have been completed. Earlier, the government had increased the commission of depot holders. It was increased from 50 to 90 rupees. This thing was being demanded by the depot holders for a long time.
