Google Maps is misleading people on Jind-Sonipat Greenfield Highway in Haryana. Where Google Maps is showing a left turn while going from Sonipat, there is a pit instead of a road. People can see it during the day but there is a danger of accidents at night.
Actually, when the highway was being built, a temporary route was provided here. Which was closed as soon as the highway was opened 2 months ago. However, it has not been updated in Google Maps yet.
Earlier this temporary route was being used to go from Sonipat to Old Gohana Road, Ludana Village, National Highway-152D and Delhi-Katra National Highway. Now people are facing problems due to this.
Understand how people are getting misled…
10 km from the toll plaza on the Greenfield Highway towards Sonipat, Google Maps is showing a way to get down from the highway and to interchange on the state highway. In reality, there is no way here. People traveling on this road can see the road closed during the day, but at night Google Maps can make anyone fall into a ditch below the highway. A major accident is also possible due to this. After the construction of Greenfield Highway, this road is actually after the toll plaza. Which is built in Jind city.
Regarding this, Sunil Vashisht, non-government member of Road Safety Committee in Jind, says that this issue will be raised in the meeting keeping in view the convenience of the people. At the same time, Jind ADC Vivek Arya said that if this is the case, then the officials of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be told so that it can be resolved.
Is it right to completely trust Google Maps?
According to cyber experts, it is not right to blindly trust Google Maps. Sometimes the map can show the wrong path due to some reasons. Such as-
If a new road has been built, which is not updated on Google Maps, then it can give wrong information.
The road gets closed due to heavy rain, storm or hurricane. In such a situation also Google Maps can give wrong information.
Google Maps works through GPS signals. If there is no network at any place, then also it can give wrong information.
Google Maps is completely based on online web technology. Like other countries of the world, many people in India also travel with the help of Google Maps. A big reason for this is that it is a free app. Through this, any route or location can be found in one click.
Apart from this, Google Map also saves time by showing shortcut routes. However, sometimes it can also make mistakes, due to which users may have to suffer. Therefore, it is important to keep some things in mind while using it.
