After the recent stampede at Delhi Railway Station, the Railways in Chandigarh has taken a big decision and decided to ban the entry of relatives of passengers to the platform. This rule will be implemented on a trial basis at the railway stations being developed under the World Class and Amrit Bharat Scheme.
According to railway officials, now a QR code will be issued on the ticket to go to the platform, which will open the entrance gate (boom barrier). To implement this scheme, the Railway Department has started a survey, after the completion of which it will be implemented.
Chandigarh, Ambala Railway Stations included
In the first phase, the Railway Department has included 3 major railway stations of Ambala division – Mohali, Chandigarh and Ambala – in this scheme. Boom barriers will be installed at these stations to reach the platform, which will open only after scanning the QR code. According to officials, this system will be implemented at railway stations where the daily passenger count will be more than 15 thousand. Gradually it will be implemented at other stations as well.
Boom barriers will be installed on both sides
The reconstruction work to make Chandigarh Railway Station world class can be completed by June. The Railway Department has issued an order that entry will be allowed only after checking with QR code on both Chandigarh and Panchkula sides. Entry gates (boom barriers) will be installed. Officials said that this plan will be implemented after the survey, so that the crowd of passengers can be controlled and security can be increased.
6-6 bag scanners will be installed for security
Keeping in mind the safety of passengers coming from Chandigarh and Panchkula, 6-6 bag scanners will be installed at the railway station. Smuggling of drugs and illegal liquor will be stopped through these scanners. Recently, many cases of liquor smuggling were reported at Chandigarh Railway Station, after which the Railway Department has decided to take this strict step.
Emphasis on crowd control and increasing security
The Railway Department says that this new system is being implemented keeping in mind the safety and convenience of the passengers. The QR code based entry system will prevent unnecessary crowding and reduce chaos on platforms. This plan will be implemented soon after the results of the railway survey are out. Just fix the quantity and do nothing else
