Mohali Municipal Corporation has intensified action against those who do not pay property tax. In this sequence, the Municipal Corporation has sealed the Mohali Golf Range for not paying property tax of about Rs 15 lakh.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh said that there are many hotel, showroom and other commercial property owners in the area, who have not deposited the property tax despite the notice sent by the Municipal Corporation. Strict action is now being taken against such property owners.
Property tax target of 50 crores
The Municipal Corporation has set a target of collecting property tax of Rs 50 crore this year, out of which Rs 42 crore has been collected so far. The Commissioner has appealed to the people to deposit their outstanding property tax as soon as possible. If this is not done, tax will be recovered along with interest and penalty. If the tax is not deposited even after receiving the notice of the Municipal Corporation, legal action will be taken against the concerned property owners.
Property tax branch will remain open on Saturdays and Sundays too
Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi said that people should come forward to pay property tax. The money which is collected from people as tax is spent on the development of the city. He said that till March 31, the property tax branch of the Municipal Corporation will remain open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm. So that people do not have to face any kind of difficulty.
