Chandigarh Police had already registered a case against the woman for making a reel in the middle of the road at Gurudwara Chowk in Chandigarh Sector-20. Now her husband, who is a constable in Chandigarh Police, has also been suspended. Police investigation revealed that the dance video of the woman was uploaded from the social media ID of constable Ajay Kundu.
When Police Station-34 registered a case against Jyoti and her sister-in-law Pooja in the matter of making the reel and started investigation, it was found that the video made in the middle of the road was uploaded by Jyoti’s husband Ajay Kundu from his social media account. Ajay Kundu is posted in Chandigarh Police.
Went to temple with sister-in-law
Police investigation revealed that both the women had gone to pay obeisance at Hanuman temple in Sector-32. While returning, they made a video while dancing in the middle of the road. This video was made viral on social media by adding a Haryanvi song. In the video, the woman was dancing in front of vehicles parked at the zebra crossing.
Woman danced on the middle of the road on March 20
According to the complaint lodged by Head Constable Jasbir in Police Station-34, a woman reached Gurudwara Chowk in Sector-20, Chandigarh on March 20, 2025. There the woman started dancing in the middle of the road. One of her companions was shooting her dance.
The woman was dancing in front of vehicles parked at the zebra crossing. A Haryanvi song was playing on her phone. Her companion was shooting the woman’s dance, as well as other people passing by the spot were also capturing the woman’s activities on camera.
Case registered for causing trouble in traffic movement
According to the police constable, this act of the woman in a public place, especially on a busy road, caused traffic obstruction. This caused trouble in traffic movement. Also, this act could have caused a road accident. Therefore, the constable lodged a complaint against the woman.
The accused woman who made the reel in the middle of the road has been identified as Jyoti. She is a resident of the Police Colony in Sector-20. Her friend who shot her reel is named Pooja. She also lives in the Police Colony in Sector-20.
Called to the police station for questioning, granted bail
After receiving the complaint, the police called both the accused women to the police station on Tuesday. They were questioned and an FIR was registered against them. However, later they were released on bail from the police station itself.
