Campaign started after Delhi elections

The Punjab government has started a war-footing campaign against drugs after the defeat in the Delhi elections. As of March 31, 2,721 FIRs have been registered, and 4,592 smugglers have been arrested and sent to jail. So far, bulldozers have been run on the houses of 51 drug smugglers, while 52 smugglers have been injured in the encounter. During this, 166 kg of heroin has been seized. Apart from this, various types of narcotics and drug money are being recovered daily.

The government is now preparing to take this step

A new trend has been seen in the campaign against drugs by the government. Women have also been found to be involved in this business on a large scale. In many places, women were handling this illegal business after the male members of the family went to jail. The police took action against the houses built by the smugglers illegally.

At the same time, the government has constituted a high level committee of five ministers in this matter. Apart from this, preparations have been made to conduct a census of drug smugglers in the budget this time. At the same time, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria is also going to start a journey against drugs. He took charge on 31 July 2024. He has invited people to join this journey.
