Chandigarh. Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh on Thursday refuted Delhi Health Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh’s allegations that the state was being given water from the national capital, saying it was a “blatant lie”.Singh said Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan had already taken their share of water and only Punjab’s share was left.”This is a blatant lie. Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan governments have already taken their share of water. Now only Punjab’s share is left. Despite Punjab’s protest, these three double-engine governments have given 8,500 cusecs more water to Haryana than Punjab’s share,” he said.

They want to create a situation like the 80s

Referring to the unrest in the state in the 80s, Singh said, “They want to create a situation like the 80s when the fight was only for water. This is a betrayal of Punjab.”He accused the BJP-led governments of exploiting Punjab’s water resources to the detriment of the state’s agricultural and economic interests.

Himachal government also asked for reply

He said, “Water is the lifeline of Punjab and this is an attack on the farmers, labourers and economy of Punjab. Even the Congress will have to answer this. Their Himachal Pradesh government took a neutral stand in this matter. Are they with the BJP or standing with the people of Punjab?”

Parvesh Singh said Punjab is motivated by politics

Giving a direct reply to Parvesh Singh’s comment on social media, Balbir Singh said, “He (Parvesh) is lying. The reference to Delhi is already fixed. When there is a flood, they say that water should not come. We will not let this happen to Punjab.” Earlier, Delhi minister Parvesh Singh has alleged that Punjab is deliberately stopping water supply to both Haryana and Delhi due to political reasons.

In a post on X, he said, “The Punjab government has done dirty politics by stopping water supply to Haryana and Delhi. After losing in Delhi, now they want to create a water crisis in Delhi.” He further said that the Delhi government is making continuous efforts to provide clean water to every household and accused Punjab of taking “revenge” on the residents of Delhi. “We are working day and night to provide clean water to every household in Delhi and now the Punjab government wants to take revenge on the people of Delhi in this way. Stop this dirty politics or else you will be thrown out of Punjab too.” The remarks come at a time when there are reports of reduced water flow in Delhi, while the national capital is already facing rising temperatures and increasing demand for water.
