Amritsar. Four members of a family of village Bhoma Bohja under Thana Ghuman of Gurdaspur died in a road accident on Amritsar-Mehta Road on Friday evening. The accident happened when a speeding tipper lost control and collided with a Verna car coming from the front. Due to the high speed of both the vehicles, the car was shattered. The police reached the spot and took the tipper into custody. The accused tipper driver fled from the spot.
On the other hand, the postmortem process has been started after taking the bodies into custody. Sub Inspector Shamsher Singh said that the investigation of the case is going on. He said that the tipper driver will be caught soon. Gurdev Singh, a resident of village Bhoma Bohja under Thana Ghuman of Gurdaspur, is a farmer by profession.
For the last few years, his grandson was insisting on going abroad. On Friday, his grandson had a flight, so he along with his wife and two relatives had come to drop his grandson at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport. In the morning, he left in his Verna car (PB 07 AG-5956). Gurdev Singh, his wife Malkit Kaur (60), Paramjit Kaur (40), Dharmendra Singh (70) along with the grandson reached Amritsar at 12 noon.
Tipper overturned in the middle of the road
After dropping the grandson at the airport, all four of them were returning to Ghuman in Gurdaspur via Amritsar Mehta Road in a car. On the way, a speeding tipper (PB 02 EP 3020) hit their car coming from the front. The speed of both the vehicles was more than 100 kmph.
Before the accident, the accused tipper driver lost control of his vehicle. The car broke into pieces in the middle of the road with a loud noise. On the other side, the tipper also overturned in the middle of the road. Passersby pulled out all four people in the car, but by then everyone had died.
