There was also hailstorm in Kaithal, Karnal and Panipat. Poles and trees broke due to the storm. Wheat got wet in the grain mandis. There was a lot of damage due to trees falling on vehicles at many places. After this, it rained in eight districts Faridabad, Gurugram, Karnal, Jind, Panipat, Sonipat, Yamunanagar and Sirsa on Friday afternoon.
Roads jammed
In Jind and Hisar, window panes broke due to lightning on two houses. Cracks appeared in the walls. A hole was formed in the lintel. Electrical equipment and wires were burnt. Vehicles crawled till Manesar due to waterlogging near Narsinghpur on the Delhi-Jaipur highway in Gurugram.
Waterlogging was seen everywhere in the industrial city of Faridabad. A car got stuck in the Green Field underpass. The car was pulled out along with the driver after getting help from traffic police personnel. The Rewari-Delhi railway line in Rewari remained disrupted for more than five hours on Friday. Due to this, more than ten trains were affected. These include long distance trains as well as passenger trains.
Power was cut off in 125 villages
Power was cut off for about 10 hours in more than half of Sirsa and for several hours in 125 villages including the city in Jhajjar. Transformers fell in Jind. At the same time, power was cut off for seven hours in about 10 villages in Fatehabad. A school van got stuck in a pit in the sewerage line. People took out 12 children in the van and pulled out the van with the help of a tractor. Vegetable crops have been damaged due to hailstorm in Kaithal, Karnal and Panipat. About 250 acres of vine vegetables have been destroyed in Panipat.
