The government should have gone to the Supreme Court yesterday itself
On the other hand, amid the Punjab-Haryana water dispute, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring says that the state government should have knocked the doors of the Supreme Court yesterday itself. They should not have waited for headlines today. Punjab’s water cannot be protected through media bytes and blame game. Legal delays, poor planning and careless attitude have again hurt the interests of Punjab.
The High Court said – Punjab Police should not interfere in the functioning of BBMB
On the other hand, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has made it clear that the Punjab government or the Punjab Police cannot interfere in the functioning of BBMB regarding the operation of Bhakra Dam and Lohand Control Room. The division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sumit Goyal, while giving its verdict on 3 petitions in this regard, said that the Punjab government can increase the security of Bhakra Nangal Dam only by staying within the ambit of the law.
The High Court has also given instructions to implement the decision of the meeting held on May 2 under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary of the Central Government. In this, it was decided to release 4500 cusecs of additional water to Haryana. The High Court has clarified that if the Punjab government does not agree with the decision of BBMB, then it can approach the central government through the chairman of the board. After this, the central government will have to take a decision on this. Let us tell you that Haryana is currently getting only 4000 cusecs of water from the dam.
3 petitions filed in High Court
BBMB had filed a petition in the High Court demanding the removal of Punjab Police from the dam. High Court lawyer RS Dhul had also filed a PIL regarding the same demand. Apart from this, the Panchayat of Matana village of Fatehabad, Haryana had filed a petition demanding the release of water for Haryana. The High Court has given its decision after hearing all the three petitions together. This matter was also discussed in the cabinet meeting of the Haryana government on Wednesday.
6 proposals passed in the special session of Punjab Legislative Assembly
Recently, a special session of the Punjab Legislative Assembly was held regarding the water dispute. During the session that lasted for about 5 hours, all the parties opposed giving water to Haryana. CM Bhagwant Mann had said that we are giving this water to Haryana right now, it will not get this in future. 6 proposals were passed in the session.
AAP and Congress started a war on X
Punjab Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister Harjot Singh Bains has posted on one post that by taking immediate and strict action on Nangal Dam, we have successfully stopped the illegal attempt of BBMB to release Punjab’s water without the consent of the state. No further movement will be allowed after CM Mann reaches Nangal.
Punjab’s water is not negotiable.
At the same time, Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa has posted that the CM of Punjab goes to BBMB for cheap show, but shies away from legal help. Are you too afraid to fight for the rights of Punjab or are you just creating drama to hide your inaction? Your photos cannot hide your return.
