Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has targeted the Punjab government for not allowing the decision to give 8500 cusecs of water to Haryana to be implemented.

He said that the Aam Aadmi Party minister who tried to take the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) chairman hostage should be dismissed immediately. The central government should take cognizance of the matter and immediately deploy central forces by removing Punjab Police from Bhakra Dam.

Bhakra and Nangal Dam are central government projects: Hooda

Talking to the media at his New Delhi residence on Thursday, Hooda said that locking the BBMB office is reprehensible, illegal, unconstitutional and unacceptable. We are part of a federal structure. Bhakra and Nangal Dam are central government projects.

The technical committee posted there decides the distribution of water to the states. No one can be dictatorial in this. Haryana is not demanding water for its share, but for someone else’s share. There has never been any dispute over this water distribution since 1966. Why are such situations being created today?

Hooda fiercely attacked the Punjab government

He alleged that elections are coming in Punjab and the political ground of Aam Aadmi Party has slipped. That is why the AAP government is doing politics on water. The High Court has also given clear instructions to the Punjab government not to interfere in water distribution. The Punjab government is also disobeying the court order.

In such a situation, the Haryana government should also raise its point strongly. The state government should immediately call a special session of the assembly. The state government should arrange an all-party delegation to meet the central government regarding the matter.
