The long pending recruitment of doctors in Chandigarh PGI and its satellite centers is now expected to get approval. Many important issues will be discussed in the Institution Body (IB) meeting to be held on May 16 in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda (JP Nadda). This will be JP Nadda’s first IB meeting after becoming the Health Minister again.
New recruitments of regular, senior and junior resident doctors may get approval in the meeting. The PGI administration will also present the details of expenditure for some recruitments. Also, a proposal to change the recruitment rules is also included in the agenda.
Discussion on DPR of Sarangpur expansion project
The detailed project report (DPR) prepared for the expansion of PGI in Sarangpur will also be placed for approval in the meeting. Its estimated cost in 2017 was Rs 190 crore, which has now increased. A revised budget will be prepared and sent through the ministry for approval from the Ministry of Finance and Expenditure.
PGI got possession of 50.76 acres of land 4 years ago, but construction could not start for 3 years. Chandigarh administration objected to the delay under the 2007 rules and has asked PGI to take an extension again. PGI administration has already taken master plan, environmental approval and wildlife clearance.
