IPS Harmandeep Singh Hans, who is facing investigation in the security lapse case of Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi), will be the new SSP of Mohali. The Prime Minister came to Punjab for election campaign in 2022.
On January 5, 2022, while traveling by road from Bathinda airport to Ferozepur, the Prime Minister’s convoy got stuck on the flyover in Ferozepur for half an hour. At that time Harmandeep Singh Hans was the SSP of Ferozepur.

The Supreme Court had ordered an inquiry into the matter. Before being made SSP of Mohali, Hans was on the post of Joint Director of Vigilance Bureau (Crime) in Mohali. Hans will replace Deepak Pareek.
The three senior police officers against whom it was decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings in the security lapse case include former DGP S Chattopadhyay, then DIG of Faridkot Inderbir Singh and then SSP of Ferozepur Harmandeep Singh Hans.
Mohali: Transfer orders issued for two IPS officers
Almost two years after the Supreme Court-appointed inquiry committee held three senior police officers guilty of breaching the Prime Minister’s security, the government had initiated disciplinary proceedings against them and the investigation is ongoing. The state government has issued transfer orders for two IPS officers from Mohali.
