The elections of Chandigarh Olympic Association (COA) will now be held again. The Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered that the elections of the association be held again and an officer should be given the responsibility for this.
Acting on this order, Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav assigned the task of conducting the elections to IAS officer Hari Kalli Kat. Now Hari Kalli Kat has appointed 2 more officers – Khushpreet Kaur and Amit.
One officer will prepare the voter list, the other will conduct the elections. Khushpreet Kaur has been given the responsibility to prepare the correct voter list as per the rules of the Sports Ministry and the Olympic Association. At the same time, Amit has been made the returning officer, who will conduct the entire election.
The dispute has been going on since 2021
This matter has been going on since 2021 when two factions of COA clashed with each other. Both had conducted separate elections and both kept calling themselves the real ones. After this the case went to the court and then the court ordered to conduct the elections again. There was a fight in the meeting held in March tooWhen Hari Kalli Kat called a meeting of all the sports associations regarding the elections in March, there was a lot of debate and allegations and counter-allegations in that too. After this, it was decided that whoever has any complaint can send it through email.
