The scope of the MBBS exam scam at Pandit BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR) has widened further. Investigations have now revealed the involvement of students of four consecutive batches of a private medical college in the scam. Sources said that during police interrogation, one of the main accused has revealed the involvement of students of 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 batches, revealing a deep nexus of academic fraud.
The scam, which came to light in January, involved obtaining passing marks in exchange for a hefty sum by tampering and manipulating answer sheets. An official, on condition of anonymity, said that during police interrogation, the accused have admitted that students from 2020 to 2023 batches are involved in the scam. Deals were struck with students directly or through middlemen to ensure favourable exam results.
Charge sheet filed against three employees
So far, charge sheet has been filed in Additional Sessions Court against three employees of the university, Roshan, Rohit and Deepak. All three accused are currently in judicial custody. The case that came to light in January was investigated by a committee constituted under the chairmanship of Kalpana Chawla Medical College Director Mohindra. On the basis of the report, an FIR was registered against 41 people, including 17 university employees and 24 students.
Handwriting expert called tomorrow
It has been decided to call a handwriting expert to examine the handwriting in the sheets of the accused students. The case will be investigated by a handwriting expert on May 16, i.e. tomorrow. The role of the students will become clear after the handwriting is confirmed by the expert. During the investigation, suspicion has also turned towards an examiner, because fewer answer sheets were found from his center. At the same time, copies were found at another center. He has been included for questioning.

1. Six students in 2020, five students in 2021
Investigation has revealed that the supplementary exam answer sheets of six students of the 2020 batch and five students of the 2021 batch were rewritten using erasable pens. These answer sheets were smuggled out on the day of the exam itself, rechecked at the residence of a UHSR employee and later secretly resubmitted to the university.
2. Students of two batches paid Rs 2 lakh per subject
Further, the accused claimed that 10 students of the 2021 batch and four students of the 2022 batch paid Rs 2 lakh per subject through a middleman, called the Direct System, a method that involves manipulation of the prize list just before the declaration of results. The accused also admitted to having struck deals for 34 subjects in the 2021 to 2023 batches, however, successful manipulation took place in only 18 of those subjects.
