Amrit Kaur, a resident of Sector-38, Chandigarh, was duped of Rs 53 lakh 23 thousand 266 on the pretext of huge profits in share trading on social media. On the complaint of the woman, Chandigarh Sector 17 Cyber Cell has registered a case against unknown accused and started investigation.
Amrit Kaur told the police that she clicked on an advertisement related to online share trading on Facebook. After clicking, she was added to a WhatsApp group. In this group, many people were talking about investing in shares and earning profits. She was also told that if she invests, she will get huge profits.
When she started withdrawing profit, the account was closed
In the complaint given to the police, Amrit Kaur told that she got convinced and she got convinced by the people of the group and transferred a total of Rs 53 lakh 23 thousand 266 to the accounts mentioned on different dates. After some time, profits started appearing in her online account. When the woman tried to withdraw that profit, she was told that more money will have to be deposited first.
When Amrit Kaur refused to pay more money, the fraudsters blocked her account completely. Then she realized that she had been cheated and complained to the Chandigarh Police Cyber Cell.
