The ongoing dispute between Punjab and Haryana over the water of Bhakra Dam will be heard again in the Punjab and Haryana High Court today on 23 May. At the same time, preparations have started for the process of deployment of CISF on the dam. Notices have been issued to vacate the quarters built there. Due to which the people living there are hurt.
CM Bhagwant Mann has opposed this decision. He said that when the Punjab Police itself is providing security, then why should we pay money. He has questioned the leaders of Punjab BJP in this matter. Also asked whether this letter has been issued with your consent.
However, sources have revealed that a meeting was held on 23 July 2021. At that time it was decided that CISF would take over the security of the dam. However, now it has been implemented.
BBMB and Haryana government misled
When the matter was heard in the High Court on Thursday, Punjab accused the Center and Haryana government of hiding the facts. An application was filed by the government. In which it was said that on 28 April, a meeting of all the states was held on the issue of water in BBMB. But when no solution to this matter was found in it, the Haryana government wrote a letter to the Chairman of BBMB.
Also, the CM of Haryana wrote a letter to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. At the same time, the Chairman of BBMB sent the matter to the Center. After this, the meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary. Whereas the Power Department never holds a meeting. There will be a hearing again this afternoon.
Bittu replied to the CM
In this matter, the Punjab CM says that the leaders of Punjab BJP should tell whether the decision to deploy CISF has been taken with their consent. The CM said that their silence will be considered as consent. On the other hand, in this matter, Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu said that the work of CISF is security. They have nothing to do with releasing water.
